This is a Medieval Flail Head, 14th century A.D. An iron flair head formed from a biconvex body, incised line decoration to the outer face, suspension loop and ring to the top. Provenance: From the family collection of a London gentleman; formed in the late 1940s-1950s; thence by descent. Very fine condition, cleaned and conserved. The artefact measures 53mm in diameter and weighs 277 grams.
